During the shoot of the feature-length film project "Le Parti du rêve de logement", directed by Peter Snowdon and produced by CVB Bruxelles and Maison de quartier Bonnevie, I developed an adjacent photography series with the main cast.
The film focuses on housing issues in Molenbeek, Bruxelles and is the writing product of a workshop that spans over 2 years. All participants have been subject to the impossibility of finding correct housing in Belgium for different social, financial or political reasons and through this film are telling their stories.
Production started late summer 2015 and wrapped early 2016. The actors of the film are the members of Groupe ALARM, a social project developed by Aurélia van Gucht with the people of Molenbeek.
While I was discovering and gradually falling in love with the amazing community of Molenbeek, the events of November shootings in Paris unfolded and suddenly this Bruxelles commune fell victim to a violent lashing-out by international media.
These photographs are aiming to make a statement at the importance of cultural diversity and the human richness of this environment, in a moment of social insecurity and confusion.
All photographs shot on 6x6 medium format film.
